Soudal Plant 5 Awarded ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM Certification
Turnhout, Belgium – Soudal is proud to announce that Plant 5, the company’s newest
production facility in Turnhout, has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM
certification. This recognition confirms Soudal’s strong commitment to sustainability,
energy efficiency, and future-focused construction.
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is one of the
world’s most renowned certification systems for sustainable buildings. The assessment
framework evaluates various aspects, including energy performance, material use, water
management, health and wellbeing, mobility, and environmental impact.
The BREEAM certification of Plant 5, achieving an impressive assessment rating of 87%,
marks an important milestone in Soudal’s sustainability strategy. During the design and
construction of Plant 5, special attention was given to energy-efficient technologies, including
geothermal energy, the optimisation of production and logistics processes, and the reduction of
the facility’s environmental footprint.
With this BREEAM certification, Soudal once again underlines its commitment to integrating
sustainability into every aspect of its operations, from product development and manufacturing
to infrastructure and logistics.
Dirk Coorevits, CEO of Soudal: "For Plant 5, our ‘plant of the future’, which will enable us to
realise our ambitious growth plans, we have left no stone unturned, including when it comes to
sustainability. We are extremely proud of this recognition. Plant 5 is only the second building
in the Province of Antwerp to achieve this distinction. As an international growth company, we
will continue to invest in modern infrastructure that is not only operationally efficient but also
contributes to a more sustainable future. At Soudal, we not only manufacture products that help
improve the climate impact of buildings, we also produce them in a climate-friendly way."
